Honey Boo Boo's mother wants her to gain weight for higher ratings

What happened: Honey Boo Boo (whose real name is Alana) reportedly lost some weight, and her mother June flipped out, reported Hollywood Life on Dec. 30. June thinks that Alana must stay plump in order to keep their stand-out reality TV show, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," at the top of the ratings.

"Alana lost some weight recently, and June totally freaked out shes terrified the family will lose their show if Alana gets skinny," a source revealed. "She knows the main reason Alana is a celebrity is because she is overweight, and June wont jeopardize that." However, given the family's favorite foods, it's doubtful that the chubby child is in danger of losing a significant amount of weight. With 20 pounds to lose, Snooki 'won't feel good until I feel comfortable naked'

Snooki loves her baby but loathes the toll that pregnancy took on her formerly sleek physique. NASM offers new Weight Loss Specialist certification program

Spring Fever Season

Do you feel energized, restless and impatient? You may have spring fever. Are you irritable, weary, listless and unable to concentrate? You may have spring fever. Or are you in a constant state of tiredness and exhaustion? It may be spring fever as well. Why so many different symptoms that even seem to contradict each other? It can be your bodys reaction to the changing seasons, or seasonal affective disorder (SAD), as the phenomenon is sometimes called.

During the winter months the body protects itself against lower temperatures and reduced sunlight by adjusting its metabolism and hormonal balance. Body temperature drops, blood pressure rises, and secretion of the sleep hormone melatonin increases, making us more sleepy. As the weather gets warmer and sunnier in the spring, the opposite happens: body temperature goes up, blood pressure goes down, and the feel-good hormone serotonin begins to dominate.

The problem is that the transitions between these different stages dont always go smoothly. In any case, hormonal imbalances take place that can cause all sorts of physical and mental responses. Some experts say that spring fever or spring fatigue are a bit like having a hangover after a period of dormancy, perhaps a lighter version of what hibernating animals go through.

Because our experience of seasonal changes has become so much mitigated through artificial light and heating, our natural reactions may be even less predictable.

In addition, weather conditions can fluctuate to a larger degree in the spring than at any other time of the year. Global climate change may only intensify these variations. Extreme weather changes have become the new normal in recent years. While feeling fatigued for some time due to seasonal changes is no cause for concern, chronic tiredness may have other roots. Feeling drained or exhausted from stress or lack of sleep can be a normal response. It can also be a sign of a more serious physical or mental condition that should be examined by a doctor.

Outside of that possibility, getting enough sleep, watching your diet, exercising, managing stress and avoiding alcohol, nicotine and drugs should get you back on track for the coming summer.

Best celebrity diet recipe of 2013: Gwyneth Paltrow's Vegan Veggie Dumplings

Kudos to Gwyneth Paltrow, who proved that following a wheat-free, sugar-free diet doesn't mean deprivation by concocting a fabulous new cookbook, "It's All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great" (click here to buy now). Visiting Dr. Mehmet Oz's talk show recently, Gwyneth explained how going gluten-free improved her health and happiness. In addition, she shared recipes from her new book, such as the delicious Vegan Veggie Dumplings recipe below from her new cookbook.

Vegan Veggie Dumplings (reprinted from "It's All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great" - click to order now) Ingredients

  • 1/2 small red or yellow onion, roughly chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 1/2 cups roughly chopped Savoy or green cabbage
  • Neutral oil (like canola, grapeseed, or safflower)
  • Coarse sea salt
  • 1/2 cup crumbled firm tofu
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup cooked quinoa
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 30 square dumpling wrappers

Directions: Blitz the onion, garlic and cabbage together in a good processor until finely chopped. Heat 2 tablespoons neutral oil over medium-high heat in a large nonstick skillet and add the cabbage mixture and a large pinch of salt. Cook, stirring now and then, until the vegetables have softened and are just beginning to brown, 5 to 6 minutes. Stir in the tofu, peas, and quinoa and cook until the peas are totally soft, 2 to 3 minutes. Turn off the heat and add the soy sauce and sesame oil. Using a potato masher, crush the mixture so it just begins to hold together. Let the mixture cool to room temperature. Lay a few of your dumpling wrappers on a flat, dry surface and put 1 tablespoon of filling mixture in the middle of each wrapper. Dip your index finger in a little bowl of water and use it to paint the edges of each dumpling. Bring each edge together to form a sort-of little pyramid, being sure to press all the edges to form a tight seal.

To cook, use a bamboo steamer set over simmering water to steam the dumplings for 4 minutes. (Tip: Try the Norpro Deluxe 3-Piece Bamboo Steamer Set - click here for details.) Or you can do them Chinese-restaurant style (a combo of frying and steaming) by heating a slick of neutral oil in a large nonstick pan set over high heat and cooking the dumplings for 2 minutes, or until theyre golden brown on the bottom. Then add 1/2 cup of water to the pan (it will create a lot of steam, so stand back), put a lid on it, and let the dumplings steam until the wrappers are totally soft, another 2 minutes.   • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
