Jenny McCarthy dishes on her gluten-free, dairy-free diet with Dr. Oz

'American Idol' Ruben Studdard hopes to win as 'The Biggest Loser'

Ruben Studdard won big on "American Idol," but he's been unable to replicate his professional success when it comes to his personal battle with his weight. To win at weight loss, Ruben has turned to "The Biggest Loser," becoming a participant on season 15 of the show, reported People magazine on July 1.

This won't be Ruben's first attempting at dieting. "I was losing weight, but I was exhausted. It was making me sick," he told People magazine about his former exercise sessions with celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson, author of "The Workout: Core Secrets from Hollywood's 1 Trainer" (click for details). After giving up his workouts with Gunnar, Ruben tried becoming a vegetarian. He says that he lost 70 pounds using a plant-based diet. Celebrating her 25th birthday, Snooki reveals how she restored her pre-baby body

Fruits and vegetables to keep you hydrated (Photos)

Staying hydrated in the summertime and at the altitude of Colorado Springs can be a challenge some days. Drinking just water can be refreshing, but also drinking enough can mean youre sloshing through your day.

Here are some foods with high water content that can help you stay hydrated as well as keeping calories down.

  1. Lettuce and cucumbers. Lettuce and cucumbers both have a water content of 96%, topping all of the fruits and vegetables. They are also high in fiber, taste good, and are low in calories. They contain amino acids, natural sugars, and mineral salts and vitamins to help you recuperate faster. All of these fruits and vegetables are beneficial for your body, besides keeping you hydrated. Two large meals a day result in more weight loss than six mini meals

Do you graze, nibbling at mini meals all day because you think it's the path to weight loss? Wrong, say researchers, who conducted a new study revealing that when you eat two large meals a day, you lose more weight than when you eat the same number of calories divided into six small meals. Reported by Business Week on June 23, the study compared people who ate only breakfast and lunch with those who ate six small meals each day. Although they consumed a total amount of food identical in nutritional value, those who ate the two large meals lost an average of 1.23 points in body mass index (BMI) versus 0.82 point for the mini meals.

"Our results support the ancient proverb: Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper," declared Hana Kahleova, a researcher at the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague, Czech Republic, in a presentation at the American Diabetes Association meeting in Chicago on June 23. In reality, we know that shifting from the standard American diet (SAD) of coffee for breakfast, a sweet roll for a snack, a sandwich at noon, a candy bar in the mid-afternoon, a large dinner and one (or two...or three) before-bed snacks isn't easy.
