Do you graze, nibbling at mini meals all day because you think it's the path to weight loss? Wrong, say researchers, who conducted a new study revealing that when you eat two large meals a day, you lose more weight than when you eat the same number of calories divided into six small meals. Reported by Business Week on June 23, the study compared people who ate only breakfast and lunch with those who ate six small meals each day. Although they consumed a total amount of food identical in nutritional value, those who ate the two large meals lost an average of 1.23 points in body mass index (BMI) versus 0.82 point for the mini meals.

"Our results support the ancient proverb: Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper," declared Hana Kahleova, a researcher at the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague, Czech Republic, in a presentation at the American Diabetes Association meeting in Chicago on June 23.
