50 Cent was an overweight kid and now offers fitness advise in new book (Video)

50 Cent hasnt always sported chiseled abs and bulging biceps. According to a Jan. 19 San Francisco Chronicle report, coming close to death in a shooting inspired the rapper to get healthy.

50 Center, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, describes himself as a chubby kid who loved junk food and didnt get much exercise. However, Fifty was forced to go through long hours of physical rehabilitation after shooting incident in 2000.

Jackson says exercise and physical movement became a habit and he liked how it made him feel. In fact, he liked it so much he continued working out in the gym regularly even after he made a full recovery from his near fatal injuries.

50 Cent is now known for his trim physique and muscular build. He has even recently released a fitness book, Formula 50: A 6-Week Workout and Nutrition Plan That Will Transform Your Life.

50 Cent also lends his support to teachers. He was one of the stars to sign the Hilton HHonors Teacher Treks sculpture in support of teachers at the NBC Universal Golden Globes After Party Red Carpet on Sunday, January 13.
