You might want to pile up a stash of potato chips: New research has revealed that the way in which our bodies respond to refined carbohydrates is similar to drug addiction, reported Yahoo! News on June 26. And at least one nutrition scientist is questioning whether such foods should be regulated in the same way as drugs or cigarettes.

The study revealed that eating refined carbohydrates such as chips and cake stimulates the addiction centers in our brains. That explains why it's impossible for many of us to eat just one corn chip or one thin slice of cake. A fat burning review can help you establish a clear describe of what you demand to focus on to accomplish your fat reducing target if you're a beginner; or serve as a reminder for those who are at an intermediate or more improve step of their weight-loss strategy. Applying are seven steps that can serve as instructions for your own weight loss program. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not exactly the same thing. Many weight loss courses have fooled people into believing that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss plans only work by causing a person's body to burn more muscle cells and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor. Therefore, said Christopher Gardner, a nutrition scientist at Stanford University Medical Center, "If it can be demonstrated that addictive foods are bypassing an individuals ability to regulate their intake, then the possibility of designing, passing and enforcing legislation to help support Americans in making healthier food choices becomes more of a reality."

So just how does our body respond to refined carbohydrates such as white flour and corn syrup? These foods result in sharp spikes in our blood sugar, followed by drops that make us crave more carbs in order to stimulate the reward and addiction centers. In contrast, eating oatmeal or broccoli slowly raises your blood sugar. The study supports the best-selling book authored by Michael Moss: "Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us" (click for details), in which he described how food conglomerates are feeding, literally, are junk food habits.

What's intriguing about this study: Recently, the Los Angeles Lakers shifted to a high-fat, high protein diet that eliminates refined carbohydrates. The result: They felt better.
