Summer may be winding down, but the 2011 Bay Vista Run is an ideal event for capping off your warm-weather running season. The race takes place Sunday, August 21, at Coyote Point Park in San Mateo, allowing competitors to sightsee while racing along Bay-hugging trails with stunning bridge views.
This years event features both 5K ($40) and 10K ($45) distances, along with a 1K Fun Run ($20) for kids, plus commemorative technical tees, goody bags and post-race refreshments for all finishers. The run will be limited to 1000 registrants in the 5k and 10k events, and in-person registration will be available on race morning only if spots remain open.
Best of all, the Bay Vista 5K/10K Run benefits Building Peaceful Families, a Silicon Valley non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health, safety and well-being of children by educating, honoring and encouraging involved, responsible and committed parenting. Since 2005, they have provided inspirational community programs and events, with a special outreach to children, senior citizens and victims of domestic violence.

Race morning volunteers are in highest demand, so be prepared to give a commitment of about four hours, which will fall between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. In exchange for your help, you'll be compensated with a commemorative tee shirt and stainless steel water bottle.
