Google yourself slim: Search giant adds nutritional data for food queries

You just might be able to thank Google for helping you lose weight this year. The popular search engine is adding calorie and nutritional information for the most popular food-related queries, reported the New York Daily News on May 30. Just download the free app, then type in a question such as "How many calories are in a banana" to get the answer.

"Every year we see a huge uptick in people interested in nutrition info," commented Google representative Roya Soleimani. "Unfortunately, getting to that answer has been really daunting on the Web, so we wanted to make that a little easier." With about 1,000 foods currently included, more will be included as the new feature evolves.
