When I was younger, I went to a summer camp at Georgetown University, here in DC. My "friends" decided that it was their duty to let me know that I was the fattest kid at the camp. When I told them I couldn't be the fattest kid, because there was another kid fatter than me, they called over the other kid. I hated that I was ridiculed for being fat, because it's not like I eat everything within sight. Actually, I ate the same or even less than my skinny friends, and yet I turned out to be the fat one.

If only the key to being skinny involved eating less. Those who think that all it takes is eating less has never experienced what it's like to gain weight in spite of eating less. People who never struggled with the shame of being fat don't understand what its like to have people tell you to just eat less and exercise more.

If you think about why most people gain the weight they lose, it's because they've bought into the eat less and exercise more theory. The fact is that while people who are overweight certainly need to do something about it, there is a strong possibility that most of the information they are getting is bogus.
