The majority of us have tried a diet or two throughout our lives. Whether it's to lose weight, lower blood pressure, or just feel better about yourself; there are several options out there. You can focus on a lower calorie intake or exercise, but at the end of the day you have different goals. Usually they revolve around fitting in your clothes and enjoying a good body composition.

Last fall we held the Thermometer Jeans Challenge at our gym in Georgetown. We had 18 local women participate. The Challenge was designed to help women get into their goal jeans The concept was for each woman to bring in a pair of jeans they couldn't button or zip. When the challenge was over they had to try on their jeans again and feel the accomplishment and change. It was a positive one for sure and they only had to lose 2lbs. to see the results. However, they lost more in body fat. This is due to having lean body mass.

Individuals who don't have lean body mass find it harder to keep their same weight. Instead they struggle with flabbier bodies and more serious issues like osteoporosis or other health problems.

Did you know around 50% of women over 80 years old end up dying from breaking their hip? It's true and shouldn't be surprising when other complications surface. Most of these people will never read this, but you can definitely make a change for yourself.

No one wants help getting up and down the stairs or when they use the bathroom. If you start working on keeping your body healthier today then it will improve your quality of life and even increase your life expectancy.

I don't recommend running through a liquid diet and exercise regimen. In my opinion this will only put you at a greater risk for hip fractures and other similar problems. Add in a smart diet and you will begin to see massive changes in your appearance and overall feel. Your moods will be calm, your body will be healthier, and you will even find yourself with more energy throughout the day.
