I was talking to a friend last night about weight loss. She is a former client of mine who would lose a few pounds and then gain them right back. She recently started a new positive thinking process and she mentioned that she had adopted a new way of looking at her weight loss journey. Instead of calling it weight loss, which she said implied that she might find it again, she now chooses to call it "weight release".

I find this concept incredibly interesting. Weight release can actually make a person feel like they can let go of their weight once and for all! Adopting this positive thinking perspective can put you in a whole new frame of mind when it comes to shedding those pounds. No more playing lost and found with your weight. With this new attitude, once you release the weight, it is gone!

Changing your mind and your habits will put you on the right path toward meeting your goals. Let go of the old ways you think about food. Do you reach for food to fill a void in your life? Take notice when you are reaching mindlessly for a snack. Make mindful choices when you are in a sad or angry state of mind. Develop a healthy relationship with food.

Remember, food does NOT make your problems go away, if anything a bad choice can make you feel worse about yourself or your situation. Release the control that food has over your emotions.
