I'm not a big TV watcher. There is just too much here to enjoy rather than sit in front of the boob tube. However, there is one show that I love and will support any way I am able: Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution.

First, please watch this video (it's under 2 minutes, I promise!) from an episode last week.

Can you believe that? 17 and 18 year olds do not know where cheese comes from. This is incredibly sad.

It didn't used to be like this. People used to have relationships with farmers and they knew exactly where their food came from. They knew how it was grown/raised, who handled it, and how it got from that point to their table.

As the home of the brave and the land of the free, we have never been more duped than in the area of our food consumption. A few months ago, I was at Sunflower Market (where I never purchase my meat because they do not have a standard for their meat), but I had forgotten to get chicken at Whole Foods and didn't want to drive back over there. So, I asked the butcher what the label 'All Natural' actually meant. He eventually stuttered out 'Uhm, it means uhm, that there's no pesticides or uhm, antibiotics that are given to the animals.' Wrong. I then asked him if his chickens were free range to which he responded 'Ma'am, no company anymore allows chicken to be free range.' Wrong again. The butcher does not even know where his meat comes from or has any idea that there is a better way. How sad is that!?

First of all, let's clear up one HUGE misunderstanding in America's attempt to 'go green.' The label 'All Natural' has absolutely no quantifiable meaning whatsoever. This deceptive labelling has tricked you into spending more money on something that has the same ingredients as the half cost version sitting right next to it. Don't give in!

Second of all, in my humble opinion (here I go on my soapbox), no industry is more corrupt than America's food industry...specifically America's meat industry. A fat loss review can help you establish a clear describe of what you need to focus on to accomplish your fat loss goal if you're a starter; or serve as a reminder for these who are at an intermediate or more advance level of their losing weight program. Applying are seven steps that can serve as suggestions for your special weight loss system. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not the same. Many weight loss courses have fooled people into believing that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss plans only work by resulting in a person's body to reduce more muscle cells and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor. If you want a real wake up call watch the movie Food, Inc. I will warn you though...it's not easy to watch. I personally had to leave the room several times.

When animals are forced to live together in waist-high filth and fed hormones and corn to fatten them up as fast as possible in the shortest amount of time possible, guess what? All that filth, hormones, and corn then gets digested by us. You are no longer eating just chicken, but everything else than was in its' environment before it was butchered.

I know free range (which also can be a tricky label) and organic is expensive, but it's all about supply and demand. The main message in the movie Food, Inc. is that your grocery store purchase is your vote. If we all begin to purchase our meat from places like Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, and Mountain Mama (the only local stores that have standards for their meat), the cost will go down for us all. So, do your part and vote for a healthier farming community, and in turn, a healthier you!
