Dont fret! Julia Dalton-Brush of Fit Journey has been working on making it easier for people to overcome this fear or anxiety. She learned that one of the biggest reasons people are hesitant about getting to a gym or starting a new class is because they are not sure what to do once they make it to the studio or gym. So, at the gym, not only is there an anxiety of feeling like people might be staring at you, but on top of that there is an anxiety of looking like you don't know what you are doing. "Even the most experienced gym go--er gets nervous when there is a new machine they have never attempted before or an exercise they are not familiar with," Julia says "It can be nerve-racking to stand in a crowded gym or class with people who you think are incredibly experienced. Thats how Foundations, a class and video series for people who may be new to fitness, was born.
The Foundations program has two components. The first are the videos, which will launch the second week of June. A fat loss overview can help you produce a clear summarize of what you need to focus on to carry out your fat burning purpose if you're a starter; or serve as a reminder for the ones who are at an intermediate or more advance level of their losing weight plan. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not exactly the same thing. The videos will take a particular class, fitness move, food ingredient or even food label and break it down so that you can understand each component. For example, the first video will be with Flywheel Sports, starting third week of June, and will go over exactly what to expect when you step into a spin class. It will go over bike set up, how to either clip into your bike or slip into the pedal and the positions used in a normal spin class. The second component to the Foundations will be a beginner class series.
Julia explains, "I understand how it feels to walk into a gym or a class for the first time and feel like an outsider. Or to really want to try something, but have the anxiety of not knowing how to do it stop me. I want to give a safe and comfortable option to people who feel or have felt the same way. With the videos, I want people to be able to watch and say 'I can totally do that' and then go try it. And with the classes, I just want to give a comfortable environment for anyone who has had the little voice inside their head that wants to get healthy but is nervous about trying it. I've totally been there, I get it!"
