The Physique 57 Solution, new this month, is a new book by co-founders Tanya Becker and Jennifer Maanavi. If you're not familiar with Physique 57, it's a ballet-style workout class popular in New York and Los Angeles. But it's definitely not little plies and pirouettes. It's a tough, hourlong workout that combines dance, Pilates, strength training and calisthenics like push-ups in a fluid workout. The book describes the development of the method and pinpoints exercises for every body part with photos. As always, Mallett's cueing and instruction are excellent and her British accent belies the tough and effective workout.
