In the scouting program a young man will advance thru five ranks before reaching the Eagle rank. Anson will complete the scouting program by organizing a service project that benefits the community. His project is the Prince Hall Cemetery of Waxahachie, Ellis County. Anson stated, I saw the old and broken graves of babies, mothers, fathers, and veterans deserved to have a better final resting place.
This cemetery is east of town and was used to bury the African slaves. The headstones date back to 1800s. Many headstones have broken, sunk into the ground, and fallen over. The town has neglected the cemetery even though it is being used to this day to bury military service members and civilians.
Within this project, Anson organizes and recruits his community members to clean up Prince Hall Cemetery. This task involves removing debris, mowing, weed eating, and planting flowers. Arranging headstones back to original placement and building a small memorial is also included in the project.
