Biggest Loser nutritionist and registered dietitian Cheryl Forberg isn't just a nutrition numbers cruncher -- she's also an award-winning chef, and her new book Flavor First, out today, puts assertive flavors on the front burner to cut calories without sacrificing taste.

Forberg is passionate about food, and before you get into the recipes from the book, she explains how to add layers of flavor to dishes through cooking and seasoning techniques. The recipes, despite being low-calorie, are not filled with fake, fluffy foods or artificial sweeteners. Instead there are sensible amounts of "real food" -- a growing trend in healthy-living cookbooks.
