Rosie O'Donnell is known for her dedication to family and funny. Unfortunately, her recent heart attack was far from funny. However, the silver lining of this event is the fact that she survived. And out of all of this comes a great teaching moment for women.

For many of us, (guilty as charged) I'm not a doctor, but play one on the internet. Using the internet as Rosie did, to diagnose symptoms, can be a blessing and a curse. A fat loss review can help you build a clear describe of what you require to focus on to carry out your fat reduction goal if you're a starter; or serve as a reminder for those who are at an intermediate or more improve phase of their weightloss plan. Applying are seven steps that can serve as instructions for your special weight loss plan. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not a similar thing. Many weight loss courses have tricked people into thinking that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss plans only work by resulting in a person's body to reduce more muscle flesh and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor. Very often we find what we think is the issue, self-diagnose and assume we're good to go. In the case of Rosie O'Donnell, once she read her symptoms on line, she followed the suggested steps, missing one very important one, calling 911. She was lucky to have survived, but someone else may not be as lucky.

Women do not experience the same symptoms as men when having a heart attack. Because of this, they often dismiss their symptoms as something other than a heart attack. As in the case of Rosie, she didn't think it was a heart attack until she read the symptoms. After recognizing she was in fact having a heart attack, she took a baby aspirin and never called 911. That oversight could have ended in her death.

According to womenheart.org more than 42 million women are currently living with some form of cardiovascular disease. We hear a lot about breast cancer, but the truth is that more than 200,000 women die each year from heart attacks- five times as many women as breast cancer. It's important to remember that heart disease is the leading cause of death of American women, killing more than a third of them.

With all of this said, heart disease is preventable. We know that Rosie has suffered with weight issues since becoming a celebrity. Regular exercise, eating whole, nutritious foods, and avoiding tobacco can significantly reduce your disease risks.

It's unfortunate that an incident like this may be the catalyst for change, but whatever it takes to start making positive change, so be it.

If you're currently overweight and inactive, perhaps Rosie's experience may motivate you to get off the couch and into a regular exercise routine. Additionally, begin making small changes to your diet, and if you smoke, quit. Those 3 changes may be just what the doctor ordered!
