Did you know Philadelphia's rated ninth in the nation, as one of the 25 top cities for walking? According to Prevention.com, Philly received a walk score of 74.1 out of a possible 100. A walk score's based on how easy it is to find city and neighborhood entertainment and attractions on foot versus driving by in a car. The overall walk ability of an area takes quite a few factors in consideration, including input from walkscore.com.
One of the reasons Philly received such a high score is because it has a commitment to keeping pedestrians safe. The most extensive pedestrian sign system in North America is right here in Center City Philly. The City's extensive park systems includes walking and hiking trails. Philly is an excellent place to walk for daily exercise.
Consider giving your body a vigorous work out and donating time to local notable causes, by volunteering to walk or run for charity. Philly has numerous walk/run events scheduled between April 21, 2012 and June 30, 2012. The weather is getting warmer, and the days are now longer, what better way to get a workout in and support a reputable local cause at the same time.
