Those "crash" diets can seem so tempting, with their promises of "overnight" weight loss and "miracle" slimdowns. Warning: if it seems too good to be true, it is.

Here are 3 fad diets to avoid in 2012:

  • Cabbage soup: Each year, it makes the rounds, appearing on websites, in emailers, and even in an occasional magazine article. The premise: you make low-calorie cabbage soup by the gallon, drink all you want with limited additional foods, and voila! you lose weight. A fat reducing overview can help you establish a clear outline of what you demand to focus on to complete your fat loss target if you're a beginner; or serve as a reminder for these who are at an intermediate or more advance level of their weightloss program. Following are seven steps that can serve as methods for your personal weight loss program. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not the same. Many weight loss programs have misled people into believing that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss programs only work by causing a person's body to reduce more muscle cells and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor. The reality: you also start to feel sick, become bloated, and spend hours in the bathroom. Plus: when you go off the diet, you gain all the weight back.
  • Cleansing diets based on weird concoctions like lemon juice and maple syrup: Initially made famous when Beyonce once tried it, the lemon-juice and maple syrup concoction works simply because you're drastically (and dangerously) slashing your calorie intake. The problem: when you stop the "fast," you gain your weight back - and sometimes more, because you feel so deprived of real food!
  • Single food diets: Ice cream. Apples. Grapefruit. Hard-boiled eggs. The idea is that you choose one food and eat ONLY that food for a week. Two problems here: first, if you choose a fattening food such as ice cream, you will NOT lose weight (in fact, you might gain). Second, it's extremely unhealthy, depriving your body of protein and balanced vitamins and minerals. Plus, just as with the others, when you stop your diet, you "lose" your weight loss momentum.

Avoid the insanity in 2012 by choosing an expert's diet book as your guide.
