Think you might be a supertaster? According to a Stanford University study, 30 percent of us qualify for that title, and it's not good news for your waistline. Author of "YOU: Losing Weight: The Owner's Manual to Simple and Healthy Weight Loss" (click for details), Dr. Mehmet Oz explains that supertasters love sweets and hate bitter flavors. As a result, they have a higher risk for weight gain, metabolic syndrome, large waistlines and risky levels of cholesterol. But there's hope, as you'll learn below.

Dr. Oz suggests giving yourself a food "makeover," and emphasizing these foods in your diet:

  • Fruits, nuts, green or herbal tea and (wait for it!) dark chocolate (70 percent cacao) can help satisfy your cravings. For example, you could enjoy a fresh fruit salad with nuts and chocolate chips sprinkled over it, and a cup of green tea to wash it down. Tip: When it comes to nuts, almonds win for their nutrients and belly-fat-battling benefits. Seek a pre-portioned option, such as Blue Diamond Almonds 100 Calories Per Bag - 32 Grab and Go Bags (click here to order a box now). As for that dark chocolate, read the label to make sure it has at least 70 percent cacao. An example of a delicious one that qualifies: Ghirardelli Chocolate Intense Dark Bar, Twilight Delight 72% Cacao (click here for details).
  • Enhance bitter foods by bringing out their sweetness, says Dr. A fat loss overview can help you construct a clear outline of what you require to focus on to achieve your fat reducing goal if you're a starter; or serve as a reminder for these who are at an advanced or more boost level of their losing weight strategy. Promptly after are seven steps that can serve as suggestions for your special weight loss plan. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not a similar thing. Many weight loss courses have misled people into believing that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss plans only work by causing a person's body to burn more muscle flesh and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor. Oz. Cook red cabbage in apple juice, or roast cauliflower with extra-virgin olive oil. My tip: Steam cauliflower and mash with popcorn salt for a flavor that resembles mashed potatoes. My favorites: Kernel Season's Popcorn Seasoning, Parmesan & Garlic (click to buy).
  • Learn to taste the meaty flavors in certain vegetables such as mushrooms, sweet potatoes, carrots and tomatoes. And enjoy two to three servings of omega-3-rich salmon and ocean trout a week, says Dr. Oz. Tip: Keep a can of organic tomatoes on hand to add to stir-fries or mix with steamed vegetables, brown rice or pilaf. Look for a salt-free version, such as Muir Glen Organic Diced Tomatoes (click here to order). And to experience the meaty magnificence of mushrooms, click here to get Native Forest Organic Sliced Portobello Mushrooms.
  • Go for "good fats," such as nuts and olive oil. Salmon also contains healthy fats: Look for a brand that uses sustainable fishing standards, such as Wild Planet Wild Alaskan Pink Salmon (click for details).
