With his fourth season set to kick off in early September, Dr. Mehmet Oz wants his award-winning talk show to be the best yet. The result: among his guests is First Lady Michelle Obama, who will discuss her views on the importance of fitness for the entire family, reported the Associated Press yesterday. She's known for her strong belief that implementing a healthy lifestyle is critical to reducing the high levels of obesity, diabetes and heart disease in the nation. The First Lady will reveal the steps to her "Let's Move" campaign during her "house call" to Dr. Oz, who said he feels "honored" that she will appear on her show. As part of her mission to encourage others to exercise and eat right, Michelle has taken on the role of "guest editor" for iVillage and writing about her own diet and fitness, reported the Daily Beast Wednesday. Among her top secrets for staying slim, according to iVillage:
- She doesn't count calories but does emphasize five small meals a day, emphasizing veggies. "This last year Ive tried to change it so my lunch is my biggest meal," the First Lady noted. "And if Im going to have a carb, like a brown rice or a potato or something, Ill have it at lunch.
- The First Lady exercises daily, arising early to work out before her children wake up. She emphasizes both cardio and weights. In addition, she noted that her husband often joins her at the gym.
