One of the common complaints that can be heard about weight loss comes from senior citizens. They not only find it harder to lose weight than when they were younger, but they also complain about how they have to be very careful that the weight they lose is extra fat and not lean muscle mass. With age often comes the threat of falls and the risk of bone fractures due to osteoporosis, which seems to be rampant in America.

In the face of all this difficulty, it has been very nice to find a senior citizen fat loss success story to share. The facts about the lady are as follows:

  • Her name is Linda
  • She will be 70 years old in less than 2 weeks.
  • Linda has dealt with arthritis for many years, making it increasingly difficult to walk without pain or maintain stamina.
  • She has been taking medication for high blood pressure for several years.
  • In early January she was diagnosed as being borderline diabetic.
  • She was also diagnosed with Primary Hemochromatosis, a blood disease characterized by excess iron in the blood.
  • Linda is woman who gained weight slowly but steadily from about the age of 40.
  • Linda stopped smoking after more than 50 years two years ago, which caused a great increase in the rate of her weight gain.
  • Linda was told that she had a great deal of fat deposits on / and inflammation of the liver, and was warned that being overweight put her at risk for not being able to have a liver transplant if needed.

Linda took all that bad news from the doctor and turned to this writer for help. A fat reduction overview can help you produce a clear outline of what you demand to focus on to complete your fat reducing purpose if you're a starter; or serve as a reminder for the ones who are at an advanced or more enhance stage of their weight-loss plan. Applying are seven steps that can serve as methods for your personal weight loss plan. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not exactly the same thing. Many weight loss programs have misled people into thinking that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss programs only work by resulting in a person's body to burn more muscle cells and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor. This writer had recently begun a fat loss program called TurboCharged and was not only very happy with it but also with how healthy the program requires you to eat.

Unlike most weight loss programs, TurboCharged is very heavy in fruit. This type of food is,of course, high in micronutrients as well as vitamins, but also serves several other important purposes for those getting over the age of 50. Fruit not only does a great job of keeping you "regular" but also provides a healthy way to satisfy a sweet tooth.

Those who have tried to quit smoking in their senior years can testify about how easy it is to replace smoking with fat causing alternatives. Cookies, candy, alcohol and fat become common substitutes for many people. And the one thing these all have in common is that they are very calorie dense. Even a little every day provides enough empty calories to cause a steady weight gain over time.

The Good Results --

When Linda decided to start the TurboCharged program around the 10th of January, her body fat data showed that she needed to lose more than 100 pounds. The body fat calculator (using the US Navy formula) showed her at around 57%, putting her in the range of morbid obesity. Her blood pressure was around 160/100 and her blood iron level was over 700.

Now, seven weeks later, Linda has lost more than 28 pounds Her body fat calculator percentage has dropped to below 50. Her difficulty walking has improved dramatically and she is much better able to support her own weight and get around well. Her blood pressure is now consistently around 115/70, and her blood iron level is now down to about 125. She is feeling so good about her ability to move around that she has planned a trip to Europe with a friend and is busy increasing her daily activity to be able to walk for extended periods when she gets there. Her dramatic health improvement has made Linda the talk of her doctor's office staff. They await her weekly weight-in with anticipation and her rapid fat loss has their rapt attention.

The Moral of the Story--

It is never too late to take active control over your health and your life. If you are a smoker, do whatever you need to do in order to stop. It is better to gain a few pounds and quit than to keep smoking. If your body fat is too high, do what is necessary to find a healthy way to lose extra fat while maintaining lean muscle mass. If your blood pressure is high, fix it. Medication can save your life when it comes to blood pressure, but changing your diet can get you to the point where medication may no longer be needed. If you are diabetic or borderline, do yourself a favor and take it seriously. Many cases of diabetes can be handled with diet (what you choose to put into your body).

Being a hefty senior does not mean you are destined to be heavy for the rest of your life.
