ABC dropped a bombshell today on fans of All My Children and One Life to Live with news that both soaps would be ending by the end of the year. The network will be keeping one soap -- General Hospital -- and replacing the other soaps with shows focused on food and health.
The show we're most interested in is The Revolution (working title), from Biggest Loser executive Producer JD Roth and 3 Ball Productions. The daily show will be about about women's weight loss and lifestyle transformations.
The team of experts will be led by fashion expert Tim Gunn, who has dressed many Biggest Loser contestants in their makeover episodes. Also on the team is celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak (5 Factor Diet) and American Idol finalist Kimberley Locke. We've talked with Pasternak before, and he's a great motivator who really makes diet and fitness simple.
Every week will focus on one woman's five-month weight-loss journey. The hosts include chef Mario Batali, lifestyle expert Clinton Kelly (What Not to Wear); chef Carla Hall (Top Chef) and author Daphne Oz (The Dorm Room Diet), daughter of Dr. Mehmet Oz.
The Chew will premiere this September after One Life to Live ends, and The Revolution, will premiere after All My Children concludes in January 2012, just in time for your new year's resolution.
