Summer road race season starts with a bang in Los Gatos this weekend

On your mark, get setfor the second annual One Mile Bang this Sunday, June 26, in Los Gatos.

The event is (you guessed it) a one-mile, USATF-certified foot race on a point-to-point, slightly downhill course on University Avenue, north of Vasona Lake, between Blossom Hill Road and Lark Avenue.

Runners will compete in one of four heats, in the following age group categories:

• 8:30 a.m. High school boys and girls

The event benefits the City Team Ministries of San Jose, a non-profit organization serving the poor and homeless, and is sponsored by the LGAA and WVJS. Awards will be given to overall winners, in addition to the top three finishers in each age division.
