Motherhood has motivated celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels to return to the "Biggest Loser" and participate in the show's new focus on battling childhood obesity, she revealed today on the Today show. "You know, the show has chosen to take on something very controversial. They're going to go after childhood obesity," she explained to Al Roker. "There are going to be three teenagers on each team. They're not going to be on the ranch, and they're not going to be competing. Why the change to the popular show? Jillian explained that although the producers recognize it is controversial to place young people in the spotlight, they want to focus on "getting them healthy." To achieve that goal, "the producers been consulting some of the top experts -- pediatricians, child psychologists -- to help us deal with this in the most delicate and appropriate ways." And part of what appeals to her is the controversy. "That's right where I want to be, right in the sweet spot, right in the frying pan. I couldn't miss an opportunity to be part of it."
Reflecting on how motherhood has changed her life, Jillian says that having two children "has given me is this incredible understanding of what matters and what doesn't." Since the show does not return until January (click here for the inside story on the premiere), Jillian is relaxing and enjoying time with her partner Heidi and their two children, reported Babble yesterday. Heidi, two-year-old Lukensia (her adopted daughter), and their baby son Phoenix pushed their children in a double stroller around Malibu to get in a walking workout while spending quality family time.
