When I moved to Colorado Springs last year, I was surprised to find out that Palmer Park existed in the middle of the city! It's a great place to take your dog (there is a fenced in dog area), go hiking or biking, or to have a picnic. It's also very easy to get to, just off of Academy, on Maizeland.
Hiking at Palmer Park is a little different than hiking anywhere else. There are several trails to choose from, but since people seem to bike on those trails more than anywhere else, you will need to look and listen for them on the trail. The trails also seem a little more rocky than others around town, and there are some very sandy parts as well.
