There has been a flurry of discussion about the recently released obesity rates and the suggestion by Harvard University child obesity expert Dr. David Ludwig to remove some obese children from their homes in order to improve their health status. Is this the answer for families with obese children? That might depend on whether or not overeating with resulting obesity is seen as a form of abuse.

Nancy Groves, a licensed social worker who lives in Michigan, another state that is plagued with rising obesity rates, voices some concerns. As a medical social worker (author of Facing Illness, Finding Peace), Nancy has worked with families with relationship issues for over 30 years, and she is experienced in dealing with abusive situations. "With overt abuse, the child would have some awareness that he was being taken out of an unsafe situation and would find relief in that."

She believes that taking a child out of the home just for overeating, however, would be traumatic for the child. "The family unit might be a very loving one with only this dysfunction. Removing a child would present a sudden, unanticipated, and huge loss which would trigger grief reactions and possibly behavioral, psychological, and emotional problems."

Nancy goes on to say that "this is where the intervention needs to start, with the parents especially, and in tandem, with education on providing nutritious meals."

Clearly families need resources to help them deal with everyday diet and nutrition issues. Healthy eating along with appropriate exercise routines can improve fitness levels and reduce the numbers of overweight and obese in our state. A fat burning overview can help you establish a clear outline of what you need to focus on to complete your fat loss target if you're a beginner; or serve as a reminder for those who are at an advanced or more advance phase of their weight-loss program. Applying are seven steps that can serve as guidelines for your special weight loss plan. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not the same. Many weight loss courses have fooled people into wondering that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss plans only work by resulting in a person's body to burn more muscle flesh and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor.
