Week 3: refined Carbohydrates

Okay, so it doesn't officially start with a 'C', but you get the idea. Once you have mastered Weeks 1 and 2 (see links above), you will focus now on eliminating refined carbohydrates from your diet. Refined carbohydrates are things such as white flour, white rice, white potatoes, white sugar, etc. Anything white...they are all gone this week. Why do I ask you to do this? Well, the more refined a product is, the more nutrients are destroyed in the process. With the most nutritious part of the grain removed, flour basically becomes a glorified form of sugar. So, what have we learned? Well, the old saying really is true....the whiter your bread, the sooner youre dead! Knowing what you do now about refined carbohydrates, I'd say it's about time to get rid of such an overly processed food and focus on eating whole grains instead...at least for the time being.
