Oahu Publications, publishers of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and MidWeek, is open for business on Martin Luther King Day, and while many people are cooling their heels on a three-day weekend, some of these employees will be parking theirs on a scale to get the post-holiday bad news.

It's the season for weight loss, and the company will have its first weigh-in for an eight-week Biggest Loser Challenge. No TV exposure, no big-name fitness gurus to be cracking the whip, just the accountability that comes with having co-workers watching every time you pass by the snack table.

When the email announcing the contest was circulated, I knew this was an opportunity to find my long-lost motivation.

It read:

Hi Everyone,

> Time to work off that extra holiday weight.

> When: Weigh-in Monday Jan. 16

> Ends: Monday, March 12

> Cost: $20 participation donation (have your $$ with you to enter)

> Categories: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (50% of bucket, 30%, 20%

> respectively), according to percentage of body fat lost.

It seems my weekly weight group accountability isn't enough to keep me on task here. I need a workout partner -- now I have one -- and I need watchful eyes on me when I'm most vulnerable to stress eating: while I'm working at my stressful job.

And I thought this was a perfect job to resurrect my blog, reporting on not only my personal experiences with the competition but on tips I encounter, research I read about along the way.

So stay tuned. I'll decide tomorrow whether or not to go fully public with my weight, using actual numbers. I've done it before, when I had a column on my weight journey in The Honolulu Advertiser, where I was then a feature writer. A fat reducing review can help you establish a clear outline of what you need to focus on to achieve your fat loss purpose if you're a novice; or serve as a reminder for these who are at an intermediate or more boost stage of their weight-loss plan. Applying are seven steps that can serve as instructions for your own weight loss plan. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not exactly the same thing. Many weight loss plans have tricked people into believing that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss programs only work by causing a person's body to burn more muscle tissue and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor. But let me sleep on it.
