Thanksgiving is coming up this Thursday, and if you are the average person, you'll most likely overindulge in many things, good and bad. I know the holidays are a time to indulge in the food, but that doesn't mean you have to stuff yourself (leave that for the turkey). Here are some tips to not gain as much weight this holiday.

  • Drink water. Drinking a glass full of water before you dive into the food will help you to eat less, because you'll feel full faster. Also, drinking water will help stave off a hangover if you overindulge in the libations. A fat burning review can help you build a clear outline of what you need to focus on to complete your fat loss purpose if you're a beginner; or serve as a reminder for those who are at an advanced or more enhance stage of their losing weight strategy. Promptly after are seven steps that can serve as guidelines for your own weight loss program. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not the same. Many weight loss applications have tricked people into considering that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss applications only work by producing a person's body to burn more muscle tissue and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor. Your liver needs water to process the alcohol, and it doesn't care where it takes it from, and that is usually your brain, hence the headache.
  • Eat the good stuff first. If salad is served, eat that as your first serving. Even a little salad will give you the fiber to help you feel full faster. Turkey is protein, so that is another good food to eat.
  • Smaller portions on the less-healthy items. Mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, and stuffing taste great, but why heap it onto your plate? Take smaller portions of the foods you like. That way you can eat the things you like but not over-eat.
  • Dessert. Oh, yes. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin rolls, candy. Ask for just a sliver of pie, or cut the pumpkin roll in half. You still get the flavor but half the calories you'd normally eat.

If you are at a dinner party with a host who pushes food, here are ideas for not giving in to their prodding.

  • "It's just once a year!" Your response can be, "But I'll live to see more holidays if I stick to my diet plan." It's harder for a food pusher to argue if you say you are doing it for your health.
  • "You need some meat on your bones!" Your response: "Believe me, I'm in no danger of wasting away." Use humor to make it clear where you stand.
  • Someone puts more food on your plate without your consent. Just push the food around like you did as a kid when you didn't like something, so it looks like you've eaten some of it.
  • "We have so many leftover. Please take some home." Your response: "That's okay. You'll have your meals for tomorrow taken care of!" Who doesn't like turkey sandwiches for lunch the next day? Thanksgiving is the holiday that keeps giving, at least for a couple of days!

If you do end up eating more than you wanted, take the kids for a walk around the neighborhood after dinner, or play games that get you moving (once the food has settled!), to burn off some of those calories.

Everyone please have a safe and healthy Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for all of you who take the time to read my articles!
