There are a countless number of apps out there to help you with your weight loss, but a few raise the bar. These apps are the most popular weight loss apps available.

MyFitnessPal

The MyFitnessPal app (available for iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry, and Windows Phone 7) is not only a calorie counter and exercise tracker, but also a social network for weight loss. When users log in, they are presented with an activity feed that summarizes their friends' actions so that each person has support and can help hold each other accountable.

Spark People

This app is available for iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry and has many similar components to the MyFitnessPal app: calorie counter, exercise tracker, weight tracker, reports. The Spark People app also provides users with a quick visual representation of their daily progress.

RunKeeper

While not necessarily a weight loss app, tracking exercise properly is a vital part of any weight loss routine. The RunKeeper app (for iPhone and Android) allows users to easily track their activity using GPS for outdoor exercises and manual entry for indoor workouts. The app also includes coaching and integrates the user's playlist.

MapMyFitness

While this app is primarily a GPS activity tracker, the app now also includes calorie counting, water intake tracking, weight tracking and various other tools. There is also a social component to encourage support and accountability.

FitBit

With the wild popularity of the personal activity tracker, FitBit, an app that goes along with it is only appropriate.
