We had the opportunity to get a sneak peek at the new "Zumba Fitness Core" (Majesco Entertainment, $39.99 for Xbox or Wii) at the annual Zumba Convention in Orlando, Fla., back in August. Zumba creator Beto Perez and master instructors Gina Grant and Kass Martin demonstrated the game for the Xbox 360 and showed that even they could get a great workout from it and they helped create it.
Well, now its out and we gave it a spin on the living room floor. Itll definitely leave you breathless from working out and perhaps from laughing at your dance moves. And since Core is in the title, the dances pay special attention to your midsection with toning moves woven into the dances.
Theres a lot to like about Zumba Fitness Core here are a few bullet points on the new game:
- The game features 40 new songs that include Zumba originals. Artists include Enrique Iglesias, Don Omar, Sean Paul, Karmin, Tiesto, Bob Marley, Kat DeLuna, Pitbull, Robert Randolph, The Donnas, and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.
- Dance styles include: Brazilian Funk, Celtic, Bluegrass, Jive, Disco, Ballet and Hula as well as the traditional Zumba rhythms of Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, Bollywood, Hip-Hop and Reggaeton.
- Six Zumba instructors guide you through each routine: Beto Perez, Tanya Beardsley, Gina Grant, Kass Martin, Loretta Bates and Nick Logrea.
The game offers three ways to workout, either by yourself or with a pal:
- Full Zumba Workout Class: A block of workout routines in 20-, 45- or 60-minute formats.
