Diet, diet, diet! What is all the fuss about the past decade with being healthy and fit? Probably the fact that over 70% of the United States is overweight or obese and over 35% of Americans ARE actually obese. This is not just to hype you up for a product review, but stone cold facts that should be telling you something needs to change within our society before this epidemic gets even worse. A reason being because our tax dollars are being used to support those who have no insurance, and require medical procedures since they have heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes from being obese.

But I digress, the whole point is that there are different ways to lose weight and get back into a healthy lifestyle, and something that peaked my interest was the Atkins Diet. I generally don't like things being based off of a low-carb diet plan, but I'm not the one trying to lose weight here either. In reality, I agree that performing a low-carb diet is a powerful way to start a healthy weight loss regimen based off of dieting, but only if performed properly.

The Low Down on Simple Carbs

Our metabolism uses carbohydrates to produce energy, but when simple carbs are overly consumed our body begins to feel the darker side of this macronutrient. Simple carbs contain glucose and fructose primarily, which are the sugars that create fuel for us. However, the problem comes when your body ceases to fight back the blood sugar spikes being caused by these carbs. This causes insulin to be sent from your pancreas in order to lower the blood sugar levels, thus causing an increase in cravings for more food!

Fact: Eventually your body is no longer capable of producing enough insulin on its own after years of stress being placed upon this hormone. The end-result is becoming reliant on insulin shots, which means you have diabetes. You could prevent this by following a low-carb diet plan, which causes a metabolic switch. This switch is a conversion to using fat for energy opposed to carbohydrates.

No wonder why so many people are overweight and obese in America. That is why the Atkins Diet was created to help fight all of this so-long-as people take the initiative to give the diet plan a try. The Atkins Diet is one of the only plans available that has an extensive amount of proven research to back up its claims.

"Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Clinical Trials of the Effects of Low Carbohydrate Diets on Cardiovascular Risk Factors" is a study to be published in Obesity Reviews. Within this study, they find that the Atkins Diet is actually a proven and safe method for increasing cardiovascular health and losing weight effectively. [1]

The Atkins Diet Brief Analysis

This is just one of the many proven clinical studies that have been independently funded by a separate organization. The whole point of the low-carb Atkins Diet is to take you through four different phases to ensure you are losing weight safe and effectively. The beginning phase has you eating leafy green and non-starchy vegetables, lean proteins such as chicken and fish, and then plenty of dietary fats from olive oil and avocados.

The second phase is rather similar, but you add in nuts, berries, and even alcohol if you wish. Phase three is more unique than the other two because you can add in the healthy, whole grains such as quinoa, oatmeal, and brown rice. You even get to eat starchy vegetables like sweet potatoes! No, not the ones mixed with marshmallows, brown sugar, and butter. (This is still a diet!)

The final phase is just sticking to the first three and adding in foods such as bread and pasta. A fat burning overview can help you build a clear describe of what you need to focus on to complete your fat reducing target if you're a rookie; or serve as a reminder for the ones who are at an intermediate or more advance level of their losing weight strategy. The result is that you lost weight maintaining a low-carb diet plan, and now you can find a common ground with the carbs you are consuming. The Atkins Diet has an abundance of different products to help you along the way such as meal bars and liquid protein, which I have to say are actually pretty tasty.

In the end, I can for once say I like an overly hyped diet product for once since it involves eating and not being reliant upon a pill. I would allow my clients to get involved with the Atkins diet after performing an exceptionally thorough search through their various clinical studies. I'm sure there are plenty of bogus reviews bashing the product, but I bet it didn't work because they were eating a package of cookies along the way. You need to perform strength training exercise regimens followed by cardio if you truly want to lose weight correctly.
