5. Eat only what you order. Do not fill up on tortilla chips, crackers, bread, or anything else that is placed on the table before the meal.

6. Ask that vegetables and entrees be served without butter, margarine or oil.

7. Watch out for salad dressings that are chock full of fat and calories. Salads containing high fat ingredients like bacon, cheese, cold cuts or olives should be avoided. Order salad dressing on the side so you can control the amount. Be sure the dressing is non-fat or reduced calorie.

8. Always watch portion sizes. If it is more than you can eat, ask for a doggie bag. Another idea would be to split the plate in half and ask for a doggie bag right away so you wont be tempted to eat everything on your plate.

9. If you feel the need to order dessert, wait until you are finished with your meal. Most restaurants have a good selection of low fat, low calorie desserts.
