Biggest Loser news: New theme song from Train, upcoming episode details

Billboard magazine reports today that at long last, there will be a new theme song for The Biggest Loser, performed by the band Train.

The song, Brand New Book, written specifically for the show, will be unveiled at the start of next week's episode. Billboard reports that Biggest Loser production company Reveille wanted a new theme for the show and contacted EMI Music Publishing, who suggested different bands and songwriters, finally coming up with Train.

"Train was a perfect match for the show," Daryl Berg, executive director of music for Reveille, told Billboard.

Longtime fans know that the show has had two theme songs since season 1 -- the first was Looking Good, Feeling Gorgeous, by RuPaul. That didn't last through the first season and was soon replaced by the more inspirational song Proud, by British singer Heather Small. Here's what's coming up on the next two episodes of The Biggest Loser:

Sept. 27: Contestants learn that the gym will only be open three times a day, and each team will only have one two-hour time slot daily to work out -- just like real life. There's also a doughnut temptation. Then it's time for the fear-inducing visit with Dr. Huizenga, who will give contestants the sobering news about their medical conditions.

Oct. 4: It's the much-heralded Football Episode -- contestants will compete in a football throwing challenge with Clay Matthews, Drew Brees and Tony Gonzalez. And the last-chance workout will get a little star power with Tim Tebow, Shawne Merriman and Eric Dickerson helping to call the shots.
