Why grass fed beef is a healthier choice than grain fed beef

You may have heard the recent hype over grass fed beef compared to grain fed beef. There are many reasons people are making the switch from grain fed and finding grass fed to be the better option.

Stop to think about the food you are eating what did the meat you are consuming eat before it became your meal? The majority of beef sold in the United States is grain fed, meaning the animals are fed a mixture of grains, mostly corn. We used to see cattle grazing for their food in the fields, but in order to keep up with the high demands of todays consumers, most farmers keep their cattle confined indoors while feeding them the grain mixture. The grain meals fatten up the animal quicker, enabling them to produce more meat.

Grass fed cattle are free to roam the fields, and consume a diet of grass and naturally growing plants and flowers. There are numerous health benefits to eating this form of beef. A fat reducing overview can help you produce a clear summarize of what you need to focus on to complete your fat burning objective if you're a starter; or serve as a reminder for the ones who are at an advanced or more improve step of their weight-loss program. Promptly after are seven steps that can serve as guidelines for your personal weight loss plan. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not exactly the same thing. Many weight loss programs have tricked people into wondering that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss programs only work by resulting in a person's body to burn more muscle tissue and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor. The meat provided by these cattle has 1/3 less fat than that of a grain fed bovine. The flavor of the meat will taste better and more gamey, as the flavor comes from the grass and flowers that animal has eaten, rather than flavoring provided by fat typically marbled through grain fed beef. The fat that is provided by the grass fed beef is also more nutritious to us. Every three ounce serving contains 35 mg. of the Omega 3 fatty acids we hear so much about, as well as EPA and DHA (which protect our heart and brain) compared to the 18mg provided by grain fed beef. In addition, grass fed beef contains two times more conjugated linoleic acid per serving (26 mg as compared to grain fed beef which only contains 13 mg). Conjugated linoleic acid not only has been found to ease weight loss, but also reduces your risk of heart disease and some cancers.

One main difference between grass fed cattle and grain fed cattle is that grain fed cattle are often required to consume antibiotics to fight infection associated with their containment in the feedlots. They are also often given hormones to increase the amount of meat produced. Those consuming grass have no need for the antibiotics, nor are they fed hormones.

We have so many choices when it comes to the foods we eat. Why not make the choice that is not only more humane, but better for our environment and healthier for our bodies?
