There are a lot of things in the diet and fitness industry that come and go with time. However, one truth has passed this test of time despite constant scrutiny. That is the notion of something called 'Intermittent Fasting.'

First of all, what is fasting? Outside of religious purposes, fasting is going a certain amount of time without food (most of the time this is accomplished in a 24 hour period). It also tricks your body and gives it a jumpstart by depriving it of something it is used to. From an ancestral standpoint, fasting just plain makes sense. Our ancestors were hunter-gatherers often spending their days in search for food. Food was not readily available as it is today and fasting was a regular cycle our ancestors had to go through. As such, our bodies are used to, and ready for, this type of demand. Yet with all the restaurants and grocery stores around, such as Chipotle, King Soopers, and even coffee shops like Pikes Perk, food is constantly on our mind.
