As the weather takes a turn, so do many well intentioned exercisers. Many figure that redemption is only a few months away, so why not have at it in the meantime? The problem is that once January hits, goals are set out of desperation and are rarely practical. In fact, very few people stay true to their fitness goals after the first 2 weeks. So what can you do now to make sure that you don't become a January drop out? Following are some simple tips to stay on task and be way ahead of the game come January 1st.

1. Set a spring goal for yourself. Perhaps you want to run a 5K or improve your current 5K time. Ever wanted to do a Triathlon? How about a biking adventure? The best way to stay consistent with your fitness routine is to set a spring goal. The advantage is that you have to start now in order to make it happen 6 months from now. Keep a journal, document your training and keep a picture of what you want to achieve where you will see it throughout the day. Not only will you go through the holidays saying, "No" with ease, you'll feel accomplished while others are wondering why they didn't start when you did!

2. Stir things up. It's very common for people to stop their daily walks or bike rides once the weather takes a turn. Being one that doesn't love the cold weather, I understand completely why outside exercise loses it's appeal. However, don't let the weather derail your fitness efforts. Check out local classes in your area. Perhaps you've been wanting to try a Tai Chi class or Pilates class, now is the perfect time. Trying something new can not only break boredom, it's a fun way to keep you active.

3. A fat reduction review can help you establish a clear outline of what you need to focus on to accomplish your fat loss objective if you're a beginner; or serve as a reminder for these who are at an advanced or more boost level of their losing weight program. 4. Stay hydrated. Just because it's no longer 90 degrees outside does not mean staying hydrated isn't important. During the winter weather, it's almost more important to stay hydrated as in-home and in-office heating is likely contribute to dehydration. Be sure to drink water throughout the day, and extra before and after your workouts. Staying hydrated is an important part of your winter fitness routine.

5. Social media can be a great motivator. Posting what you're doing can not only inspire others but connect you with like minded people. You can also find fitness groups on line that serve as a motivational resource. Purchasing something like a Nike Fuel band which posts your activity on Twitter and Facebook is a great way to build a cheering section for your activity.

As the seasons change, so do routines, it's natural. But there's no need to ditch your fitness regimen completely.
