As we age, our bodies change and our nutritional needs begin to change as well. There are certain nutrients our bodies need more of, and certain types of food we should try to avoid. Its important to understand these changes and learn what we can do to improve and maintain our health through our diets, especially as we get older so we can remain as independent as possible.

At all ages its extremely important to exercise and limit our intake of fat and excessive sweets. This remains true as you get older. Cardiovascular exercise is a great way to reduce your risk of cardiovascular diseases, reduce blood pressure, reduce cholesterol, and even reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes and certain cancers. Light weight bearing exercises can also help improve your bone density. Be sure to consult with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

One very important need that increases as we age is our need for calcium. Everyone requires more calcium to maintain their bone mass as we age since our bone density depletes as we get older. A fat reduction review can help you construct a clear outline of what you require to focus on to complete your fat loss goal if you're a rookie; or serve as a reminder for those who are at an advanced or more advance level of their weight loss plan. Following are seven steps that can serve as suggestions for your own weight loss plan. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not the same. Many weight loss applications have misled people into wondering that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss applications only work by causing a person's body to eliminate more muscle cells and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor. Additionally, its important to increase intake of fiber, iron, vitamin B12, potassium, vitamin D, and zinc.

On March 14, 2012, Clinical Nutrition Manager Angela Cribari, R.D., L.D.N. of the Lancaster Regional Medical Center will be presenting information on proper nutrition for seniors to avoid illness and remain independent. The seminar entitled "Eat to Live: Nutrition Strategies for Active Seniors" is being held at Traditions of Hershey, located at 100 N Larkspur Drive, Palmyra, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP to 717-838-2330 by Friday, 3/9/12.
