Season 13 of The Biggest Loser has certainly brought the drama, and that was heightened when the aqua team -- brother and sister Adrian and Daphne Dortch -- returned to the ranch a couple weeks ago. And angry sparks flew Tuesday night at the elimination table when Adrian was voted off. He talked about those tense weeks on the ranch as well as life off the ranch in a conference call with reporters Wednesday afternoon.
Viewers Tuesday night were happy to see that Adrian, 34, an Evanston, Ill., music producer, husband and father, is down 100 pounds from his first day on the show, and well on his way to contending for the at-home prize. And he updated us Wednesday with a new total.
"As far as winning, Ive already won. Ive already lost 100 pounds -- actually 140 to date," he said. "This show is not about winning the money. Its not about the money because after taxes its not a lot of money," he said with a laugh. "This show is about getting your life back and adding on years."
When the aqua team won their way back on the ranch, Adrian had said they were working out all day and eating a diet that sounded like it would leave a supermodel hungry. Since he didn't have a lot of time on the ranch, he said he didn't have time to "guinea pig on my diet and try a whole bunch of different things. So, I had to go back to doing what worked, and thats why the following week I lost 9 pounds."
What does he do at home? "Im still eating four to five times a day. Im having snacks in between those meals. Im eating every three to four hours, and Im having fish or I am having chicken, very lean, no fat, organic. And Im doing mixed greens with a little lemon on it." And he added:
"I mean, yes, my diet is a little bit boring, but eating a lot of interesting food is what got me big."
Does he wish he had done anything differently while on the ranch?
"I dont regret a day on the ranch," he told us. "I take every day away from the ranch and utilize it at home and it continually propels me to lose this weight. Im so excited to see how Im going to look at finale. I feel like its more pressure off the ranch than being on the ranch."
Oh, and what about those ascots?
"Everybody does skinny ties," he said. And if you wear a bow tie, might think that you're just, you know, Pee-Wee Herman-ish. So the ascot was so prestigious and, like, clean. And so not only is it an ascot, but its beautiful, and its actually my own line. Ascot by Adrian."
