Have you ever hurried off to work or school or to a morning event without eating breakfast? How did you feel as the morning wore on? Were you able to focus on the task at hand or did you find yourself looking for something to pop into your mouth to quiet your grumbling stomach?
Children that go to school without eating breakfast experience the same stomach rumbles and have difficulty concentrating on their lessons. So how does a parent motivate a child to eat a satisfying breakfast every morning to help that child stay on task and perform his best?
In Birmingham, Alabama, a new partnership with the city schools and the Birmingham Education Foundation called Parent University may help busy parents with this and other questions regarding ways to promote children's educational success. According to Michael Froning, the executive director of the foundation, the mission of the university is to foster a parent's active role in his child's education and thereby improve the child's chance of success.
The Parent University will focus on:
1. Parental growth and awareness
2. Health and wellness
3. Learning at home
4. Volunteer training
5. Collaborating with the community
The health and wellness component could include information on nutrition. If so, what a great time to discuss the breakfast issue, or any food issue that involves the family. This would be an ideal opportunity to discuss how to deal with the picky eater, what to offer for healthy afterschool snacks, or how to include kids in meal preparation. A fat reduction overview can help you produce a clear outline of what you need to focus on to carry out your fat reduction target if you're a beginner; or serve as a reminder for those who are at an intermediate or more advance stage of their weight loss strategy. Following are seven steps that can serve as guidelines for your special weight loss program. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not the same thing.
