In last night's Episode 9 of the Biggest Loser, the contestants are rewarded with two weeks at home with their families. A blessing to some, but not to all. Two weeks of being reunited with family, but also two weeks of being surrounded by the things that brought them to this place in their lives. Upon their return, they will compete in a 5K on a treadmill. They did well at home:
- Moses - as he arrives home, "All the temptations I had before are still here. I have to figure out different ways to tackle them because they are not going away"
- Austin - explains that it's not all about the physical changes, "I know what's happened on the inside"
- Olivia - whose husband has worked hard himself while she was gone, losing 57 lbs so far
- Courtney - goes back to work in her family's ice cream shop, but makes healthy choices for her meals that she brings in, "I'm happy with my food choices because it's going to get me one step closer to where I want to be"
- Arthur - has a heart-to-heart conversation with his dad about his parent's divorce and how that may have attributed to his weight issues, "I will learn from his mistakes and pass it on to my son so that each generation will get better"
- Austin - celebrating his 21st birthday with his friends, "The only thing that has changed is me. I've made the decision to change my habits"
- Jen - training for the 5K at home, "The harder I train, the more I stay focused"
- Kaylee - teaching her family workout basics, "I never saw myself as a fit person. I want to share that knowledge now"
Each contestant had their own temptations to deal with at home and each one found a way to deal with it. Mostly be being strong emotionally and dealing with the matters of the heart. The reasons that got them there in the first place. Trainer Brett says, "Life is a struggle and these struggles are never going to go away. You have to find a way to deal with them."
Everyone returns to the ranch and competes in the treadmill 5K and the prize is to be in the top seven to be able to pick your trainers. Arthur comes in last place and therefore loses his team and trainers. He is disappointed, but vows to fight on. He loses 16 lbs in the weigh-in, but it isn't enough and he is sent home. Arthur came to the show weighing 507 lbs and in his update at home, he now weighs 345 lbs, a loss of 158 lbs. He walks 5 miles to the gym each day and 5 miles home.
