I had the opportunity to see the documentary "Forks Over Knives" which was presented by the Colorado Springs Vegetarian Society Meetup Group at the East Library in Colorado Springs on Sunday. Parking was at a premium for that movie! There were about 100+ people there to learn more about how to eat to get and stay healthy. The movie focuses on how eating a healthy plant-based diet can actually reverse some health problems. including Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
Most people don't eat enough fruit and vegatables, and in fact, the amount of meat one person consumes at each meal would feed an entire family in Asia. Eating a plant-based diet can help you be less tired with more energy. One gentleman was consuming 1 1/2 cokes and two energy drinks daily to get through the day. After being on a more plant-based diet for three months, he had lost 20 lbs and felt more energetic and wasn't drinking the energy drinks anymore. Another subject was on two oral diabetes medications, one cholesterol medication, one high blood pressure medication, and an injectable medication. A fat reducing review can help you construct a clear summarize of what you need to focus on to achieve your fat loss purpose if you're a novice; or serve as a reminder for these who are at an advanced or more boost level of their weightloss strategy. Promptly after are seven steps that can serve as tips for your special weight loss system. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not exactly the same thing. Many weight loss applications have tricked people into wondering that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss programs only work by causing a person's body to reduce more muscle flesh and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor. He reported feeling "tired, doesn't feel normal." His medications were partly responsible for his feeling tired and run-down. After being on a plant based diet, he had lost weight and was moving toward getting off all his medications, and had more energy.
There were some very interesting facts in the movie. 40% of Americans are obese. 1 in 5 4-year-olds are overweight. In 1941, during the Nazi occupation of Norway, the Nazis took all the animals for food for themsleves, and the Norwegians had to eat a plant-based diet. Heart disease dropped dramatically in that country between 1941 and 1945. In the 1950s, TV dinners and other "convenience foods" were introduced, and in the 1960s, heart disease was on the rise. Is this coincidence or a product of what we eat?
"Forks Over Knives"--choosing to eat a healthy diet (forks) instead of having surgery (knives) to become healthy and take care of their health. It was very eye-opening, and I would urge everyone to see this documentary. It can be found on Amazon.com as either a download to your PC, or in DVD and Bluray.
