While Haylie Pomroy's "Fast Metabolism Diet" book doesn't come out until the first week of April, the nutritionist was on today's "Dr. Oz Show" with a sneak peek of the plan and to discuss the principles behind her diet, which promises to speed up your metabolism and repair "injured" ones.

"You know your metabolism is stuck when your old tricks don't work anymore," Pomroy said to Dr. Mehmet Oz on Thursday's show. Repeated dieting, hormones and aging are the prime culprits in a slumping metabolism.

In her new book "The Fast Metabolism Diet" (Harmony, $26), Pomroy's eating plan rotates what youre eating throughout each week:

Phase I (Monday-Tuesday): Lots of fruit and whole-grain carbs, such as quinoa, brown rice and couscous.
Phase II (Wednesday-Thursday): Lots of dark green vegetables and lean protein, such as poultry and fish.
Phase III (Friday-Sunday): All of the above, plus healthy fats, such as avocado, coconut oil and raw nuts and seeds.

She writes that each phase of the eating plan focuses on foods to calm your adrenal glands, reduce stress on your liver, and feed your thyroid so it can produce the hormones T3 and T4 to help repair your slumping metabolism.
