Did you know that 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year? Did you know that each year about 40,000 women will die from this cancer? As stated on the University of Alabama at Birminghams (UAB) Comprehensive Cancer Center site, the disease ranks second only to lung cancer as the leading cause of cancer death for women.

During the month of October the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama is promoting local events to help continue their fund-raising efforts and educate the public about breast cancer risk.

Starting out on the morning of Saturday, October 6, Pepper Place will host In the Pink at Pepper Place. The event will include cooking demonstrations, fresh produce, artisan breads, specialty vendors, and much more.

Ross Bridge will be hosting two events: Arts & Music on the Green and Uncorked! On the Green, both on Saturday, October 13.

On Friday, October 19, volunteers from the Angel Squad of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center will be on hand at Jim N Nick's restaurants to explain the importance of mammograms for early detection of breast cancer.

Two events will take place on Saturday, October 20: the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and the Revvin 4 Research motorcycle event hosted by the Dixie Divas Riding Club.

For the golfers in the area, the city of Calera in cooperation with the Timberline Golf Club will host a golf tournament on Monday, October 29. A fat reducing overview can help you construct a clear outline of what you demand to focus on to achieve your fat burning goal if you're a beginner; or serve as a reminder for these who are at an intermediate or more advance level of their weightloss plan. Following are seven steps that can serve as suggestions for your personal weight loss system. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not the same thing. Many weight loss applications have fooled people into believing that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss plans only work by producing a person's body to eliminate more muscle tissue and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor.

Throughout October, stores and restaurants at the Summit will be participating in Go Pink at the Summit. The vendors will offer shopping discounts, private sales, entertainment, and great food.

For bagel lovers, Panera Bread will donate a portion of October sales from the purchases of Pink Ribbon Bagels and Power of Pink Bakers Dozens.

And to show their support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, local firefighters will be selling Black Out Breast Cancer t-shirts.

If the above events do not make it on your calendar, you can still show your support by purchasing a States of Love Breast Cancer Awareness Necklace from the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
