When we had the opportunity to talk with ousted Biggest Loser contestant Jeremy Britt on Wednesday afternoon, there was one question we just had to ask -- did you read your contract?
The drama on Tuesday night's Biggest Loser, where all the contestants threatened to walk off the show and two actually did, seemed to die down after host Alison Sweeney brought out network lawyer Jeff Friedman, who went over the contestants' contracts with them, one at a time. He pointed out that there was a paragraph that said eliminated players would be brought back to compete for a third spot in the Biggest Loser season 13 finals.
"I did read the contract. I'm not as dumb as they try to make me look," Britt told us Wednesday in a conference call with media. "Just a heads up, you know, the contract is given to you a month before you even know if you're going to be on the show. So I mean we read the contract, we signed it."
In the end, he decided to stay, along with his sister Conda Britt and third contestant Kim Nielsen. But there was a time, at the very beginning of his Biggest Loser journey at over 400 pounds, when he first thought about leaving.
"We did our first workout with Conda where I actually said, 'Hey let's just get out here. Like, we've only been on a couple minutes now, no one will ever remember this. Let's just get out of here,' " he said. "If I'd have known it was going to be that hard I probably wouldn't have signed up, but I mean, from where I'm at now, I'm glad that I did."
In the 16 weeks he has been on the ranch he has lost 150 pounds. But he's not officially gone from the show just yet. Next week's episode will have him competing with the other eliminated contestants to take part in a shot to win the third spot in the May 1 Biggest Loser season 13 finale.
"I was eliminated and all the eliminated contestants are going to get to compete in that, so I will be part of that group," he said.
