This is something that has come to my attention, both within myself and with questions and comments I've been getting from you. It has to do with how quickly you THINK you should be seeing results and in reality, when you ACTUALLY will see results. It kind of reminds me of the story of the tortiose and the hare.

See, if you are a hare, you jump right into your workouts and totally kill yourself, make drastic changes to your nutrition and off you go. Until, a few days or weeks later, you over do it, get injured or just burnt out and YOU QUIT.

But, if you are a tortoise, you start out slow and steady, gradually making changes to your fitness and your nutrition. You set a good foundation and you continue to build on it. Then, one day down the road, you take a look at how far you've come and all the postive changes you've made and give yourself a big ol' pat on the back for a job well done.

Moral of this story? In health and fitness, it is better to be the tortoise than the hare!

What's this mean to you, you ask?

Now, I know you hate it when I remind you to take those awful "before" pictures and measurements, but there is a really good reason and here it is: you will THNK you aren't getting any results from your hard work, but when you pull out those before's, you will begin to realize how far you really have come.

And you can't ALWAYS rely on the scale either. You will fluctuate from day to day, and at different times during the day even. I recommend weighing yourself no more than every other day and if you can stand it, once a week. Make sure you are doing it at the same time, with the same amount of clothes on, either before you eat breakfast or after, whatever you like the best, but MAKE IT THE SAME!

But, a better judge of making changes is things like:

  • Are your clothes fitting better or even beginning to fall off?
  • Are people starting to ask if you are losing weight or doing something different?
  • Are you sleeping better at night?
  • Do you have more energy to get through the day?
  • Can you run around and be more active with friends or the kids?

These are the things that are the real test of making changes.

And, writing down your workouts, your weights, your reps, how fast you ran or how far, are great gauges on what you are doing too.

There's a great picture I've been seeing around and it explains really how it works when you are starting on the path of health and wellness that states: "It takes 4 weeks for you to see your body changing. It takes 8 weeks for friends and family. And it 12 weeks for the rest of the world".

It will take some time to see the results of your hard work. But, it is the underlying, compound effect of what you do today that will determine your results tomorrow, next week, next month and next here. Promptly after are seven steps that can serve as instructions for your special weight loss system. The first thing that one must understand is that losing weight and losing fat is not the same. Many weight loss courses have misled people into considering that it is the same, but most diets and weight loss programs only work by causing a person's body to reduce more muscle tissue and water than actual body fat, more help please visit The Fat Loss Factor.
