Thousands of breast cancer survivors, caregivers and supporters will join forces in the Bay Area, across California and around the nation to Pink Differently in the fight against breast cancer at the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks this month.
Since 1993, nearly seven million walkers have raised more than $400 million to help fight breast cancer through participating in these noncompetitive, three- to five-mile events. In 2010 alone, nearly 800,000 walkers across the country collected more than $60 million to save lives from breast cancer.
This year marks the fourth annual walk in San Jose, which will take place on Saturday, October 29. The five kilometer non-competitive walk begins and ends at the Arena Green and travels along the beautiful Guadalupe River Park trail and through downtown San Jose.
The American Cancer Society promises a day of hope, inspiration and entertainment, including musical performances, Dedication Stations where teams can show support, plus a Survivor and Friends tent where visitors can celebrate survivorship and hear personal stories of hope.
While there is no registration fee or minimum fundraising amount, people of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate and help raise funds.
