Jennifer Hudson isn't the only American Idol contestant to drop an album and drop a lot of weight. Mandisa has reached her goal of losing 100 pounds at the very time her new album What If We Were Real comes out this week.
"I can't think of a better time to have finally lost 100 pounds," said Mandisa, an American Idol season 5 finalist. Mandisa hired a personal trainer and stuck to a healthy diet to drop the pounds. One important lesson she learned was how to cook and eat healthy on the road.
(Actually, she just announced on today's episode of Extra that she's now down 120 pounds.)
The album title comes in part from her struggle to finally finish losing weight. She had lost 80 pounds at the release of her second album Freedom and wanted to finish the job for the release of her third album. She had documented her weight loss on her Web site through a series of YouTube videos, which she called Journey to 100.
